Cherubim at NAHBS 2013
NAHBS Standouts Cherumbim’s Silver Flyer Last year Japanese builder, Shin-ichi Konno, of Cherubim, displayed a ravishing red pursuit-style fixed gear. This year, the color is silver and the handlebars are a drop model, but it is no less beautiful. The finish work is exemplary and the concept is high art. Part hot rod, part spacecraft, the Cherubim shows what happens when a builder thinks outside the double diamond box.
Ever since Cherubim showed up at NAHBS for the first time I’ve been in awe of master builder Shin-ichi Konno’s work. His show bikes are clearly just that, concept show bikes showing off his creativity and metal working skills, and not always the most practical machines on display. This city bike has a coaster brake, integrated rack and some of more intricate bars I’ve seen (aside from Cherubim builds of course).
As always, enjoy *J*
“A BICYCLE
is not a ticket to your dreams.
It’s not a romantic poem
immortalized in black and white photography.
IT DOESN’T NOTICE
… if you’re suffering nobly through wind & rain.
Or care if your ride is epic enough.
But it does leap forward when you push the pedals.
It dives and carves and sprints.
It gives back exactly what you put in.
And of course. It can make you feel
REALLY DAMN AWESOME.”
